Georgian Theatre Royal : ウィキペディア英語版 | Georgian Theatre Royal
The Georgian Theatre Royal is a theatre and historic Georgian playhouse in the market town of Richmond, North Yorkshire, England. It is among the oldest of Britain's extant theatres.〔 ==History== It was built in 1788 by the actor-manager Samuel Butler (died 1812 〔http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/a2a/records.aspx?cat=2747-gtr〕) and was one of his circuit of theatres, the others being located in Beverley, Harrogate, Kendal, Northallerton, Ripon, Ulverston and Whitby, though none of these are now open. Regular performances at the theatre continued until 1830, when performances became less frequent and in 1848 it was let as an auction house. The Georgian Theatre Royal was reopened by a non-profit trust in 1963, it was expanded in 1996 and had major restoration works, including the addition of a museum, costing £1.6 million in 2002, reopening once again in 2003.〔
